Susan Wootten, DVM
An associate veterinarian at Animal Hospital of North Asheville since 2002, Dr. Susan Wootten grew up in Savannah, GA. She has had a lifelong love of animals and enjoys the close relationship that she develops with the pets and clients that come to the hospital each day.
As an undergraduate, Dr. Wootten attended Mercer University and graduated cum laude with her Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 1998. She continued her veterinary education at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating small animal internship at the University of Georgia Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Wootten enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice, but is especially fond of internal medicine and pediatric wellness care. She is a member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association.
She has always had many dogs and cats over the years and recently said goodbye to her oldest family member. She expects to welcome a new pet into her home soon. When not at the hospital, Dr. Wootten can be found enjoying all the outdoor activities the area has to offer. She especially enjoys hiking, camping and bicycling. She and her husband, Ben, are the proud parents of a daughter, Macy Coco.
